Florida Attorneys Protecting Your Rights After a DUI Arrest
Whether a DUI arrest results from a momentary mistake in judgment or from false allegations, it is important to take the situation seriously. Under Florida law, it is a criminal offense to drive with a blood alcohol or breath alcohol level of .08 or above. If you are convicted, you could face serious consequences:
- Your first conviction: For a first DUI/DWI conviction, penalties may include fines between $500 and $1000. These fines may increase if you have more than a .15 BAC or if there was a minor in the vehicle. You may also face community services, probation and imprisonment for up to six months.
- Your second conviction: If you are convicted of a second DUI/DWI, you could face fines ranging from $1000 to $2000. Like a first DUI/DWI, these increase if your BAC was greater than .15 or if a minor was in the car. You may also face imprisonment of up to nine months.
- Your third conviction within 10 years: You may face fines of $2000 or more if you are convicted of a third or fourth DUI/DWI within 10 years. A third conviction carries with it a mandatory imprisonment of at least 30 days and up to one year.
